With regard to etiopathogenesis, we can divide ovarian, tubal, and peritoneal epithelial tumors into two groups which differ both in origin and biological behavior. STIC - serous tubal intraepithelial carcinoma is a plausible precursor of the second group – extrauterine pelvic serous carcinomas. Recent data on the etiopathogenesis of this group of tumors put new demands on diagnostics, but also opens up new possibilities for selective screening of high-risk patients and also for targeted surgical and oncological treatment.

Key words: STIC – serous tubal intraepithelial carcinoma, extrauterine pelvic serous carcinomas, etiopathogenesis
